Hot Tickets Celebrates Tech Excellence

Amid a rare rainless night, the movers and shakers of the Northern Virginia technology crowd gathered for the Seventh Annual Hot Ticket Awards this past Wednesday.

Companies from across the region competed in categories such as "Hottest Venture Capital Deal" and "Hottest Management Deal." The event was held at the home of NVTC President and CEO Bobbie Kilberg, who announced there were more than 450 people in attendance.

Bob Dinkel Tropical Attire Winner Ali Dian of Athena Technologies struts his stuff for the judges.

"The Hot Tickets Awards have become, in a short amount of time, one of the most prestigious award ceremonies in our region," said Art Swift, spokesman for the Northern Virginia Technology Council. "While the theme of the ceremony is casual, the awards themselves serve as a badge of honor for the winners for the year to come."

The winners at the Hot Tickets Awards were Vocus (Hall of Fame Award); LeverPoint (Hottest Bootstrap); Clearspring (Hottest Buzz); ServiceBench (Hottest Exit); Parature (Hottest Management Team) and Zenoss (Hottest VC Deal).

"It's really a testament of our executives winning this award," said Sohale Razmjou of LeverPoint. "We're helping small to media companies go offshore successfully. The Hottest Bootstrap award shows people recognize our success."

The "casual" theme was heightened with the Annual Bob Dinkel Tropical Attire Contest. More than 50 contestants competed for the grand prize - two tickets to the Tiger Woods AT&T National at the Presidential Golf Club in Loudoun on July 5. Judges said Ali Dian of Athena Technologies had the "best" tropical outfit of the bunch.
